I ended up in San Jose, Costa Rica after chasing a motorcycle down here with the intention of buying it in Panama, just to have it sold with me one country away. Fortunately I found a retired Dutch pilot who wants to sell me his 2004 KLR650 for a good price, so I’m planning to do that. After arriving in San Jose I was offered a job as a substitute elementary school teacher for a day…two and a half weeks later I’m still teaching at the school, although this should be my last couple days at the position. I teach generally 2nd grade but have also had Pre-K, K, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th graders; subjects include English (separately as both the language and the subject as we knew it growing up), Social Studies, Science, P.E., etc.
After my month long bout in teaching I headed to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica for a few days of relaxation before catching the bus to Limon. Here was a motorcycle I´ll be obtaining. After some work to get it running, I rode all night to a small village in the north west named Buenos Aires (there are a few of these in Costa Rica). The bike is a 2004 KLR650 and over the last few weeks I´ve had a good time riding around, exploring and fixing many of the bike’s issues. It has also allotted me the opportunity to give myself 4 more stitches. I´ll remain here during the tremendously slow process of paying fees and standing in lines is over, that is, until the motorcycle has been transferred over to me. Not to mention that the current owner of the bike went to the beach for the day Monday and never returned…hmmmm…
